About Carlos Mejia

Career highlights past and present

An accomplished executive recruiter who focused his practice in finance, specifically hedge funds in New York, Carlos Mejia is now chairman of the Funding Committee of North American Family Institute (NAFI). At the nonprofit, Carlos Mejia supports the provision of developmental programs to children and youth at risk in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, among others. He also facilitates positive engagement between youth and police officers, eliminating stereotypes and building trust.

Mr. Mejia spent close to two decades in executive search practice, gaining all his experience at Options Group. He worked at the company from 2000 to 2018, ending his tenure as the managing partner and global head of asset management, hedge fund, and equities practice. He oversaw the recruitment and training of senior portfolio managers, investor relationship managers, and sales and marketing people for some of the top financial companies in the world, recording more than 1,000 successful assignments. He also grew Options Group’s machine learning practice and advised his financial clients on innovation, developing a reputation for bringing Silicon Valley’s top professionals into investment banking.

Mr. Mejia has a BA in psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Before becoming a recruiter, he was a youth counselor at NAFI in Massachusetts and Florida.
